Threshold Parallelism in Morphological Feature Extraction, Skeletonization, and Pattern Spectrum

چکیده
In this paper it is shown that many composite morphological systems, such as morphological edge detection, peak /valley extraction, skeletonization, and shape -size distributions obey a weak linear superposition, called thresholdlinear superposition: Namely, the output graytone image is the sum of outputs due to input binary images, which result from thresholding the input graytone image at all levels. Then these results are generalized to a vector space formulation, e.g., to any linear combination of simple morphological systems such as erosion, dilation, rank -order filters, and their cascade or max /min combinations. Thus many such systems processing graytone images are reduced to corresponding binary image processing systems, which are easier to analyze and implement.

Spectrum Skeletonization: A New Method for Acoustic Signal Feature Extraction
Vibration Analysis Tests (VAT) and Acoustic Emission tests (AE) are used in several industrial applications. Many of them perform analysis in the frequency domain. Peaks in the power density spectrum hold relevant information about acoustic events. In this paper we propose a novel method for feature extraction of vibration samples by analyzing the shape of their auto power spectrum density func...
متن کاملA New Hybrid Feature Subset Selection Algorithm for the Analysis of Ovarian Cancer Data Using Laser Mass Spectrum
Introduction: Amajor problem in the treatment of cancer is the lack of an appropriate method for the early diagnosis of the disease. The chemical reaction within an organ may be reflected in the form of proteomic patterns in the serum, sputum, or urine. Laser mass spectrometry is a valuable tool for extracting the proteomic patterns from biological samples. A major challenge in extracting such ...
متن کاملA Biometric System Based on Neural Networks and SVM Using Morphological Feature Extraction from Hand-Shape Images
This paper presents a hand-shape biometric system based on a novel feature extraction methodology using the morphological pattern spectrum or pecstrum. Identification experiments were carried out using the obtained feature vectors as an input to some recognition systems using neural networks and support vector machine (SVM) techniques, obtaining in average an identification of 98.5%. The verifi...
متن کاملColor Image Indexing Using Mathematical Morphology
A mathematical morphology based approach for color image indexing is explored in this paper. Morphological signatures are powerful descriptions of the image content in the framework of mathematical morphology. A morphological signature (either a pattern spectrum or a differential morphological profile) is defined as a series of morphological operations (namely openings and closings) considering...
متن کاملAutomated Identification to the Centromere Position and the Centromere Index(ci) of Human Chromosome in G- Banded Images
Automated chromosome classification is an essential task in cytogenetics. The genetic disorders and abnormalities that occur to the future generation can be predicted through analysing the various characteristics of the chromosomes. The chromosome classification is mainly based on geometric and morphological features. An effective algorithm for chromosome geometric feature extraction is present...
